Where can I find open educational resources (OERs) for my class?
I'm looking for a new textbook for my course--where can I find an OER to assign?
Here's a selection of places to find open educational resources (OERs).
National
- OpenStax: features quality OER textbooks in Math, Science, Social Science, Humanities, Business, College Success, and more.
- MIT Open Courseware: a free repository of course materials hosted by MIT. This includes audio and visual lectures, textbooks, example assignments, and supplementary materials for courses in a wide variety of subject areas.
- OER Commons: a digital library for OER content that can be browsed or searched. They also offer curated collections of content hosted on the platform focused on specific subjects or needs. OERs hosted on this platform include content for primary, secondary, postsecondary/tertiary, and postgraduate education levels.
- LibreTexts: hosts textbooks and learning objects in 13 subjects fields, like Spanish, Physics, and Geoscience.
- The Open Textbook Library: provides access to textbooks in Business, Computer Science, Education, Engineering, Humanities, Communications/Journalism/Media Studies, Law, Math, Medicine, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, and Student Success.
Georgia
- Affordable Learning Georgia (ALG): an initiative from GALILEO and the University System of Georgia (USG), ALG aims to reduce the cost of course materials through "supporting the adoption, adaptation, and creation of affordable and open educational resources by USG faculty and professional staff."
